Shark Week

Just because I thought I should post this again. Recently got a Bronze Addy for this which was nice to get rewarded for playing with clay for an afternoon. I love that the career I choose is all about fun.

I love owls and want this necklace.

Here is the necklace at Mod Cloth
The thing about Mod Cloth... it's absolutely great for those random, weird and quirkly stuff... But sometimes, it treads that fine line of cool and ugh hipster. Nothing is more annoying than an over the top hipster. But I love this necklace.

Playboy ads!

Second ad is featured on Men stalls.

Shout out to Goose Rock Design

Joey Brunelle, awesome guy, helped me put my website together and is incredibly talented. I had a vision, he made it a reality. Without him, I would just be an art director with a bunch of ads. Now I'm an art director with a bunch of ads on the internet.
So art directors, designers, copywriters, photographers... ANYONE that needs a portfolio up on a website or just a website plain period... He's great. And I'm not just saying that because I've known him for almost 20 years.

ANNNNDD.... click here to see my website: Some of my work

p.s. Joey, and I know you are reading this, when I get up north, I'm buying you a beer.

I don't get it?

Wait, doesn't Chevron sell gas for cars? I'm all for cycling, walking, public transportation and hybrids. I would even drive a solar panel car if it was available. (sidenote: won the sixth grade solar panel car race with a team of awesome guys- one of which recently helped me make my website!)

So what is Chevron going to sell? What do they want? Human energy... from Chevron... Sounds a little silly to me.

Her Morning Elegance / Oren Lavie

One of the coolest music videos I've seen in the past five years. Very nice stop motion going on here. Love it.

Coraline Website has some pretty cool Features.

The film, Coraline, is coming out soon and the website has this feature where you can make your own flower. Directed by the same guy who did Nightmare Before Christmas. Either will be great or will be totally a flop.

Doodle A Day Blog

this girl draws a doodle a day. And posts it.

Wicked cool photography.

So this Photographer, Simon Hoegsberg, shot pictures of people crossing a bridge in Berlin for twenty days and then collaged it all together into a 100 meter piece. Awesome. I wish some of the people had little thought bubbles like, "did I remember to shut off the stove?" and "Hmm, maybe I need a doctor's appointment for that."

Check out Simon Hoegsberg's piece, We're All Gonna Die.

I used to make Christmas Ornaments, Now I make fake ads.

This was made almost twenty years ago in Mrs. Erb's kindegarten class. Someone asked me the other day when I knew that I was going to go into a creative field. I had to think about it, then go a little further back... And then I remembered.
June of 1988, I graduated from Pre-School. While sitting next to virtually all of the kids I would later graduate from High School with, I was awarded the "Best Future Artist" award for my painting of Jack jumping over the Moon. The moon was green and Jack was a yellow cow instead.
I have an excellent memory for random stuff. I can remember that I ate Mickey Mouse pancakes for breakfast at Disney World when I was seven, but forget where I left my keys.

Blog of the Day

Gluttony Is Bliss.

Um... awesome blog. And on that note, I'm going to the gym.

Some people like this campaign, some people don't. I like it, but then again, I've always wanted a dalmation.

The Office Ad Campaign: Tag: Good Humor, Bad form.

The Office Ad Campaign (click each ad to make it larger if necessary)
Copywriters: Meghan Levesque and Caroline Smith
Tag: Good Humor, Bad Form.

I was so happy I got the chance to work on this campaign and especially since it is targeted towards the fans, so essentially me. Each writing utensil has the name of the associated character written on it. For instance, the intensely sharpened pencil with perfectly aligned paperclips is Angela. For those who watch the show, you totally get it and all the inside jokes. And it builds an even bigger cult/fan base. We even have Christmas versions of these ads, possibly coming soon.

So if you watch the whole Dwangela love triangle every week, hopefully this is your kind of ad campaign?

P.S. Thank you Santa for the Season 3 AND Season 4 dvds. Best present this year other than your promise of world peace.

My Shark Week Ad: UPDATE!

Don't want to jinx it but just found out I might be getting something special for the video soon? Or might just be getting a "good try." Whatever the case, it was my favorite thing to do at the Circus so far. Click her to watch the Shark Week Animation!

More Magic Eraser: Where have all the Marks gone?

Crazy Big Love Advertising

BBDO in New York came out with this awesome advertising idea- plug your headphones into a jack by each person and hear their "secret." This season on Big Love on HBO is all about secrets so very cool. Check out this article to see more.

Photo(grapher)? Ayudame.

So I've never entered photos into the student show, partly because I'm not technically a photographer and also in part that I'm pretty sure I'm just pointing and clicking. Anyways, I've got a few photos that I'm trying to figure out if they should go in the show. And since it's my last student show, I figured that I might as well. Of course, most of these photos are from Maine.

Ok, so go with me on this one...

So, here are just some of the print ads from a huge Magic Eraser campaign. The rest is coming soon... or possibly just at my website. So check it out!

Starts off: Posters of missing "Marks" are plastered in urban areas. Posters at bus stops, subway stations, building walls. Man, that Boogie Nights poster is missing Mark Wahlberg. Where have all the Marks gone?? At first, no logo appears- just a website to www.wherehaveallmarksgone.com.

Then: Get to the interactive website and you can play Mark Trivia, play Mark Fight (example: Mark McGuire fighting with a bat, Mark Hamil fighting with a light saber.) You can also send a Mark that you know a personalized message from one of our famous missing Marks. Lots of Missing Marks awareness at the site to create a concern/buzz. And best part: you can win a signed famous Mark Magic Eraser. Yessss....

And Then: Where have all the Marks gone? Mystery continues.

Magic Eraser: Removes Marks
Copywriters: Mark Pantsari (don't worry, not MIA) and Rich Ford

I'm not a copywriter but....

I do actually write. Sometimes. And after reading (yes, I read too) this article, I realized there a few words and saying that drive me insane and should henceforth be considered overused. And in the spirit of New Years... here goes.

"A whopping ____"
Many newspapers use this phrase to describe something that is astonishingly large. Really, who says whopping? I've heard of whopping cough and a whopping crane, but neither are big things. Or wait... that's Whooping... That word is banished too. Whopping sounds like a Steve Urkel dance move and frankly should not be allowed to describe an employment rate or high school drop out percentages.

"Maverick"

I agree with that Karoub's article. Way overused. Mr. McCain, I congratulate you on ruining a great film with that weird bible thumping actor... Mel something...

"Folks"
So this one is a little personal. As a hostess, I had a boss that mandated that I welcome all entering patrons by saying "hello folks." Not "hi guys," or even "hey there." Folks... Shuddering now as I think about it because if I say it again, I've moved to the sticks.

"OMG"

To those that use this, you are not a teenage girl wearing a pink scrunchie. And if you are, WTF. Abreviating words is ATHOOM. Annoying the Hell out of Me.

"Iphone"

Rub it in my face a little more that AT&T wont let me get a new phone until February. Tell me more about your internet access, GPS directions, games, and personalized fortune telling. Please inform me about what I'm missing out on.... And do me a favor. Call it a PHONE.

"Avatar" What a silly idea. First avatars were just computerized alter egos for the creepy unsocial Dwight Shrutes of the world. Now they are popping up like plastic daisies everywhere. I'm not thrilled to see these being used as a advertising technique because it's a desperate nerd alert.
I actually met a guy at a bar who told me his name was Avatar... Imagine his reaction when I said I'm Lola.

More words to come... Also in future: Favorite things said from The Office.

Did I mention I'm snowbound? Love it.
